We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Science Tutor to support high school students in mastering key scientific concepts and improving academic performance. The ideal candidate will inspire curiosity encourage critical thinking and provide individualized instruction in subjects such as Biology Chemistry Physics Environmental Science and other Science Subjects.
Provide one-on-one and/or small group tutoring to high school students
Develop and implement engaging lesson plans tailored to each students learning style and goals
Review and explain scientific concepts lab work and problem-solving techniques
Help students prepare for classroom exams standardized tests (e.g. SAT ACT AP) and school projects
Monitor student progress and communicate regularly with parents teachers or academic coordinators
Foster a supportive and motivating learning environment
Facilitate Liberty Partnerships Program Assessments and other LPP tasks as needed
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
High School Degree
Some College Preferred
Experience working with students preferred
Experience with one of the Science-related fields (Biology Chemistry Physics Environmental Science etc.).
Prior experience teaching or tutoring high school students preferred
Strong communication organizational and interpersonal skills
Ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and engaging way
Patience enthusiasm and a genuine interest in helping students succeed
Preferred skills:
Experience with New York City High School Science curricula
Familiarity with virtual tutoring platforms (Zoom Google Meet etc.)
Pay Range:
$17.00 - $17.00/hour
