Job Description:
As a Science Teacher at Vance County Early College you will play a crucial role in inspiring and educating students in the field of science. Your responsibilities will encompass designing and implementing engaging lesson plans fostering a positive learning environment and preparing students for academic success and real-world applications of scientific knowledge. Below are the key responsibilities associated with this role:
1. Curriculum Development and Instruction:
- Develop and deliver comprehensive lesson plans that align with state standards and curriculum guidelines.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and resources to engage students in active learning and critical thinking.
- Incorporate hands-on experiments demonstrations and technology to enhance understanding of scientific concepts.
2. Assessment and Evaluation:
- Assess student progress through a variety of methods including quizzes tests projects and laboratory reports.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to support their academic growth and development.
- Analyze assessment data to identify student strengths and areas for improvement adjusting instruction accordingly.
3. Classroom Management:
- Establish clear expectations for behavior and academic performance ensuring a positive and respectful learning environment.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies to promote student engagement and maintain order.
- Foster a culture of collaboration inquiry and mutual respect among students.
4. Differentiated Instruction:
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of students including English language learners and students with special needs.
- Provide additional support or enrichment activities as needed to ensure all students have the opportunity to succeed.
5. Professional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum share best practices and promote interdisciplinary connections.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance content knowledge pedagogical skills and instructional effectiveness.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress and solicit their support in their childs education.
6. Laboratory Safety and Maintenance:
- Ensure a safe and organized laboratory environment by adhering to safety protocols and guidelines.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and materials making necessary repairs or replacements as needed.
- Supervise students during laboratory activities to ensure proper handling of equipment and adherence to safety procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in science education biology chemistry physics or a related field (masters degree preferred).
- Valid teaching certification in science or secondary education (required).
- Strong content knowledge and passion for the subject matter.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to differentiate instruction and meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Experience with inquiry-based learning project-based learning or other student-centered instructional approaches.
