Direct Clinical Care and Specialized Procedures

Invasive Medical Services:The School/ESE Nurse is responsible for performing the administration of any medication requiring intravenous or intramuscular injection or the insertion of a medical device into the body as prescribed by a physician.

Healthcare Services:The School/ESE Nurse must specialize in health-related services including but not limited to intermittent clean catheterization gastrostomy tube feeding and the monitoring of blood glucose levels.

Chronic Health Management:The School/ESE Nurse coordinates the management of students with chronic health conditions (such as severe allergies asthma or diabetes) by identifying these students and assisting in the development of Individualized Healthcare Action Plans.
