QUALIFICATIONS

• Valid School Social Worker/School Adjustment Counselor license from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
• Masters degree in Social Work or Masters degree in related counseling field
• LICSW LCSW or LMHC licensure
• Strong district lens regarding EL curriculum and equity
• Knowledge of current education legislation/regulations
• Ability to work effectively with teachers support staff and parents and advocate for children in order to effectively problem solve
• Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills and ability to work with all stakeholders
• Experience inan urbandistrict/settingpreferred
• Experience working with adolescents and families struggling with complex challenges including mental health challenges causing extended absences from school
• Excellent case management skills
• Demonstrated skill and experience providing setting clinical goals and providing direct clinical supports to adolescents in the school setting including collaborating with collateral/community-based mental health providers
• Demonstrated skill and experience working with parents/guardians from an assets/strengths-based perspective
• Demonstrated effectiveness with development and continuous improvement of student support programming within a school environment
• Demonstrated effectiveness providing functional supervision to other professionals

JOB GOAL:

Todevelop and continuously improve a high-functioning program providing clinical and academic supportstostudentsreturning to or transitioning intoschoolafter an experience that has had significant mental health impact in addition to resulting in loss of school time.

SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Works with the Principal other school leaders and external support organizations to develop and continuously improve a program dedicated to successful transition intoLynn Vocational Technical Institute for students who have experienced significant mental health challenges and have missed extensive amounts of school time.
• Develops and assures effective implementation of a comprehensive transition plan integrating clinical care coordinationand academic supports for each student in the BRYT Program; is primarily responsible for implementation of the care coordination components of the overall plan.
• Organizes and facilitatesmeetings with staff of collateral support organizations prior to and during students participation inBRYT.
• Develops and implements the clinical care coordination and family engagement components of the overall case management plan for each student in BRYT.
• Provides 1:1 and/or small-group clinical intervention to BRYT students on a flexible as-needed basis employing clinical methods that are most appropriate for meeting the goals in each students case management plan.
• Pro-activelycommunicates with educatorcolleagues and school administrators regarding theprogressand status of each student in BRYT maintaining student confidentiality as appropriate.
• Engages in consistent two-way communication with the families ofBRYTstudents to keep them apprised of student progress and gather feedback and information to supportstudent learning and well-being including making home visits to families where appropriate.
• Maintainsa programenvironment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
• Monitors progress ofBRYTstudents who havetransitioned out of the program.
• Serves as Principals designee in providing functional support/supervision to all staff members and volunteers assigned toBRYT.
• Assures that all required data is gathered and entered into data management systems according to program in meetings with staff of collateral support organizations prior to and during students participation inBRYT.
• Pro-actively communicates with educator colleagues and school administrators regarding the progress and status of each student in BRYT maintaining student confidentiality as appropriate.
• Engages in consistent two-way communication with the families ofBRYTstudents to keep them apprised of student progress and gather feedback and information to support student learning and well-being including making home visits to families where appropriate.
• Maintainsa programenvironment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
• Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct and for the classroom develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintains order in the classroom including addressing inappropriate student behaviors as needed.
• Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and or volunteer(s).
• Attends staff meetings and serves on staff and or school committees.
• Participatesin staff development programs.
• Other duties as assigned.
