Responsibilities:

• Responsible for developing students Individualized Education Plans
• Develop and implement lesson plans incorporating goals/objectives from all disciplines of each students IEP.
• Implements and monitors behavior and classroom management plans/techniques when necessary
• Develops and adheres to an established daily schedule making dailymodifications/adjustmentsas required
• Maintains communication with classroom team parents and program directors regarding students performance
• Develops lesson plans incorporating the IEP goals and objectives for each student
• Reinforces appropriate student behavior by utilizing progressive discipline techniques
• Establishes communicates and monitors clear expectations for both students and classroom staff

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Initial NYS Certification in Childhood Education and Students with Disabilities Grades 1-6 or Special Education Permanent
• Bachelors degree in special education
• Individual without a masters degree must demonstrate plans to obtain a masters degree within a five-year timeframe.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds independently.

This position requires a masters degree; however candidates with a bachelors degree may be hired initially as New York State allows individuals with an Initial Certification to teach while completing their masters degree within a five-year timeframe.
