QUALIFICATIONS: | 1. | Masters Degree: Official transcripts documenting a masters or more advanced degree from an accredited institution. |
2. | Current School Social Worker certification with appropriate endorsements as set by the Arizona Department of Education. | |

WORKS CLOSELY WITH: | Life Academy Teachers and Director of Educational Services | |
JOB GOAL: | To support the academic social and emotional success of all students by providing targeted therapeutic interventions crisis management and supportive counseling. The School Social Worker acts as a vital liaison between the school families and community resources to remove barriers to learning and foster a safe inclusive and multi-cultural educational environment. | |
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: This list represents the essential tasks performed by the position. 1. | Facilitate responsive services through effective use of small group and individual support (i.e. grief and loss family changes self-management peer mediation social skills academic/organizational skills emotion management/stress management). | |
2. | Collaborate with teachers administrators and parents to create comprehensive support plans for students. | |
3. | Coordinate with external agencies and community resources to provide additional services to students. | |
4. | Offer crisis intervention as needed addressing urgent mental health or safety concerns. | |
5. | Facilitate and/or coordinate training for staff and families for the purpose of recognizing risk factors strategies to support student socioemotional development and relevant topics to increase student success and well-being. | |
6. | Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions and progress. | |
7. | Provide documentation and data by facilitating and completing accurate and comprehensive reports surveys and needs assessments as required by the School Safety Grant. | |
8. | Participates in school District and ADE based meetings and training. | |
9. | Demonstrates professional knowledge and engages in ongoing professional development in accordance with the National Association of Social Work Standards and ADE | |
10. | Serves as a member of multidisciplinary teams to support academic success and social emotional wellbeing including but not limited to Threat Management Team Teacher Assistance Team and School Safety Program Team (SSPT). | |
11. | Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective function of the District. | |
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: | A maximum of 174 working days per school year. Salary and workdays to be established by the Board approved schedules. | |
EVALUATION: | Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on Evaluation of Staff. | |
JOB TYPE: | Full-time flex schedule 4-5 days per week | |
