Job Summary

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in building trades and knowledge of basic local building codes (city and county). Ability to use and repair hand and mechanical tools including power drills saws vacuums buffers etc. Able to operate lawn equipment. Must be able to climb reach and move on a ladder when necessary. Ability to do routine cleaning andgeneral maintenance work around buildings and grounds. Physical ability to bend stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to work outdoors in hot temperatures. Ability to work cooperatively with others. Must possess a valid AZ Drivers license.

REPORTS TO: Principal and Director ofOperations

JOB GOAL:

To perform duties in a manner to insure the desired standards for building maintenance and to provide students with a safe attractive comfortable clean and efficient place in which to learn play and develop without interrupting the educational process.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assists in preventive maintenance of all physical and plant-related equipment and machinery.
  2. Performs major and minor repairs and construction including welding and soldering.
  3. Estimates cost and selects and orders materials for projects as needed.
  4. Recommends repairs and replacements related to safe plant operation.
  5. Assists in maintaining the safe and economical operation and upkeep of the districts physical plant and mechanical equipment including heating/cooling facilities and electrical and plumbing requirements.
  6. Assists in the care of school grounds including mowing seeding planting pruning and chemical maintenance of all vegetation.
  7. Assists in the maintenance of sprinkling equipment and water systems for lawns and flower beds.
  8. Keep buildings and premises including sidewalks neat and clean at all times.
  9. Reports promptly to the Director of Support Operations any major repairs that are needed and any damage to school property.
  10. Moves furniture and equipment as required.
  11. Complies with laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash rubbish and waste.
  12. Completes custodial duties as assigned.
  13. Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the Principal and Director of Maintenance.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Twelve months. Employee benefits in accordance with Board policies.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with Board policy on evaluation of support staff.
