Position: School Adjustment Counselor- TLC Program

Location: Davis Hill Elementary School

Pay: WREA Salary Schedule pending ratification of 2026-2027 contract

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education:Masters degree inthe area of Social Work/Counselingor related field.
  • Certification:Licensed as a School Adjustment Counselor/School Counselor by Mass DESE.
  • Experience:Minimum of three years experience in a school or a social service setting with school aged children.
  • Skills:Strong communication and collaboration skills with students families and colleagues.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide counseling to students in need utilizing individual and group therapy.
  2. Contribute to the positive culture and climate of the school and district community.
  3. Provide assistance and guidance to faculty and staff related to social-emotional and mental health needs of all students.
  4. Provide social emotional and academic support to students.
  5. Maintain positive and supportive relationships with students their families and when relevant outside providers.
  6. Provide consultation and support to staff with crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills.
  7. Facilitate social skills groups and other groups.
  8. Work as part of the school-based team in developing appropriate educational services for students.
  9. Participate in pre-referral conferences with school personnel in a team context for appropriate intervention and coordination of referral services to external agencies.
  10. Assist school leadership in the development and implementation of behavior support plans.
  11. Develop a school counseling program aligned with standards established by MASCA.
  12. Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
  13. Assist the administration in implementing District goals and policies related to the educational and operational needs of the District.
  14. Attend staff or team meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  15. Perform any other related task or duty at the direction of the building principal or central office administrators.
