A Day in the Life of the Scheduler
As a Scheduler you will begin your day managing appointment requests including scheduling confirming rescheduling and canceling visits according to established guidelines.
Throughout the day you will verify patient demographics coordinate appointment availability based on provider schedules and resource capacity and clearly communicate appointment details preparation instructions and required documentation to patients.
You will monitor schedules for accuracy and efficiency proactively resolving conflicts and ensuring optimal utilization of resources. You will also respond to inquiries via phone and electronic communication providing prompt professional customer service.
Collaboration is key in this role as you will work closely with clinical and administrative teams to ensure readiness for scheduled services and support a smooth patient flow.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum of 3 years of hospital or medical office experience required
- At least 2 years of administrative and customer service experience required
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems and scheduling software
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes preferred
