Job Summary

Lead scheduler serves as a team lead over the scheduling staff and general oversight of daily scheduling activities. As a lead this position they will coordinate assign and guides the work activities of other scheduling addition to lead duties this position is also responsible for performing patient scheduling.

Essential Functions
  • Alert the Manager to any barriers or conflicts with scheduling cases

  • Acts as a liaison to assist with training education communication and problem solving

  • Assist manager with staff scheduling when needed

  • Maintain continuity while providing coverage for absences

  • Assists with orientation for all new patient scheduling employees and other clinical staff who may need to learn scheduling functions

  • Provide positive guidance training and monitoring of staff on processes of scheduling and other scheduling functions

  • Monitor telephone statistics daily and intervene as needed to meet standards

  • Acts as a liaison between manager scheduling staff and office schedulers

  • Recommends and alerts manager on clinic related issues problem occurrences changes in activity etc.

  • Acts as an excellent role model and customer service resources

  • May contribute to peer review for performance evaluations

  • In addition to performing lead worker duties employees in this title perform basic and complex scheduling duties included but not limited to:

  • Scheduling of complex appointments that require coordination of multiple resources to complete the scheduling of surgical procedures and non-surgical procedures

  • Completes or receives schedule requests and schedules appropriate resources.

  • Revises schedules as cancellations and/or additions occur and communicates with the appropriate personnel

  • Communicate effectively regarding actual and potential schedule changes to same day or next days schedule

  • Uses multiple systems/applications to schedule surgeries procedures or appointments

  • Uses knowledge and experience in scheduling to schedulers departments and scheduling offices in problem resolution

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • One year of relevant experience in patient scheduling with multiple sites and services and multiple specialties.

Preferred

  • Associates Degree in Business Administration
