Job Summary
Position Summary:
The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for coordinating and scheduling surgical procedures while ensuring accuracy efficiency and exceptional patient service. This role serves as a liaison between physicians patients clinical staff and insurance providers to facilitate seamless scheduling and preparation for procedures within the Cypress Surgery Center.
- Schedule and coordinate surgical procedures in accordance with physician availability facility resources and patient needs
- Communicate with patients regarding procedure dates arrival times pre-operative instructions and required documentation
- Verify and collect demographic insurance and authorization information for scheduled procedures
- Obtain and track prior authorizations and referrals as required by insurance plans
- Coordinate with physician offices anesthesia providers and ASC departments to ensure scheduling accuracy
- Review physician orders and ensure all necessary documentation is complete before procedures
- Prepare and maintain accurate patient records within the electronic medical record (EMR) system
- Confirm scheduled procedures and communicate any changes promptly to patients and staff
- Maintain surgery schedules and optimize scheduling efficiency while minimizing conflicts
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards
- Assist with administrative duties including answering phones filing scanning and maintaining records
- Provide excellent customer service and support to patients and team members
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of 2 years of surgery scheduling medical scheduling or healthcare administrative experience preferred
- Experience in an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) hospital or physician practice preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology surgical procedures and insurance verification processes
- Experience obtaining prior authorizations and referrals preferred
- Proficiency with EMR systems and Microsoft Office applications
- Strong organizational communication and multitasking skills
- Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer
- Frequent use of phones and office equipment
- Occasional standing walking bending and lifting up to 1520 pounds
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong time management and prioritization abilities
- Detail-oriented with high accuracy standards
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: Requires sitting and standing associated with a
normal office environment.
ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS: Normal busy office environment
with much telephone work.
