Friendship Collegiate Academy builds scholars ready for the rigors and rewards of college. By immersing students in a collegiate environment that provides early exposure to college-level courses and experiences Collegiate achieves some of the highest graduation and college acceptance rates in the Washington area.

Collegiates roadmap to student success includes 16 College Board Advanced Placement courses among four rigorous career academies that encourage self-discovery and a mastery of core academic content: Early College Information Technology and Engineering Fine Arts and Health Sciences.

Our Early College Academy the first such program at a public charter high school in the city offers highly motivated students the opportunity to earn up to two years college credit before graduation. Today Early College alumni proudly hold degrees from some of the nations most competitive institutions: Princeton. Morehouse. Columbia. William and Mary. Spelman. Carnegie Mellon. Virginia. Maryland. George Washington. UCLA. Georgetown. The list grows year by year.

• Create a classroom culture of high achievement and student ownership of learning that fosters students intellectual social and emotional development.
• Provide daily instruction including clear learning outcomes well-designed lessons and high-quality assessments aligned to Friendships curriculum college-readiness goals and SAT expectations.
• Develop and implement comprehensive SAT preparation plans that support student growth in SAT Math Evidence-Based Reading and Writing.
• Deliver engaging research-based instruction that strengthens students foundational academic skills problem-solving abilities critical reading grammar writing and test-taking strategies.
• Analyze student performance data including diagnostic assessments practice tests benchmark data and classroom performance to monitor progress and deliver focused interventions.
• Administer SAT-aligned practice assessments and provide timely constructive feedback to students on strengths growth areas and next steps.
• Adjust instructional strategies based on student progress assessment data and individual learning needs.
• Provide targeted small-group and individual support to students requiring additional intervention or acceleration.
• Stay current with SAT updates testing formats score expectations and effective preparation strategies and adjust instructional practices accordingly.
• Create a positive and research-based classroom environment that motivates students to set goals track progress and take ownership of their SAT preparation.
• Participate as a member of an IEP team 504 team or other student assistance team as requested.
• Prepare lesson plans for use by a substitute teacher.
• Communicate with students to understand their talents interests and needs and to convey learning expectations and progress toward meeting those expectations.
• Communicate regularly with families to identify students talents interests and needs and update parents/guardians regarding students achievements progress and areas for continued support.
• Collaborate with school-based staff and colleagues throughout the Friendship network in staff meetings data analysis sessions and professional learning designed to enhance the student learning experience and increase student achievement.
• Support school-wide college readiness and academic achievement initiatives including SAT preparation intervention programming and student goal-setting.

• Bachelors degree from an accredited university.
• Commitment to providing a world-class education to students from historically underserved communities.
• Strong understanding of SAT Math Evidence-Based Reading and Writing content and strategies.
• Ability to analyze student data and use results to inform instruction intervention and acceleration.
• Ability to adapt instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
• Ability to build rapport with students and motivate them to reach their full potential.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience as an SAT instructor intervention teacher acceleration teacher secondary math teacher secondary English teacher or related instructional role.
• Knowledge of current SAT testing strategies formats and preparation techniques.
• Identified as in field which may include:
  • Bachelors degree and masters degree from an accredited university; or
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited university and completed Praxis requirements.
• Has demonstrated at least one year of effective teaching in their field as measured by the LEAs teacher evaluation system.
• Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 and above.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development and/or continuing education.
