Job Summary
Under general direction inspects work areas and equipment to ensure compliance with company state and federal safety policies and regulations.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Documents safety inspections citing dangerous areas/procedures and recommending corrective procedures.
- Maintains safety equipment supply and availability.
- Samples and analyzes for possible exposure to hazards such as chemicals smoke fumes gases vapors noise and lighting.
- Applies safety policies and procedures and administers employee safety training.
- Maintains all files and records including material safety data sheets and other paperwork ensuring compliance.
- May be responsible for hazardous material program assuring all hazardous materials are received handled shipped stored labeled and disposed of in accordance with company and government regulations.
- May interface with regulatory agencies.
Requires a high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A two year degree or equivalent is preferred. Requires at least 5 years related experience.
Requires understanding and ability to train others in company state and federal safety policies and regulations. Must be able to effectively interpret the policies and objectives of the company. Able to train others in correct use of safety equipment. Must have broad practical knowledge of biology environmental science chemistry or a closely related field. Must have skill in the operation of a variety of lab equipment generators pumps gauges and other common tools. Must have the ability to perform control calculations. Must be able to produce quality accurate work. Must be able to detect and correct errors. Requires effective written and verbal communication.
Compensation:This is an hourly non-exempt role. The starting pay range for this role and market is between $31.05 $40.19/hour. Factors that may affect starting pay include geography/market and the skills education experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. Employees in this role are also eligible to earn overtime when they work more than 40 hours in a week (or as otherwise required by state law).
