Buckle up for an adrenaline-fueled journey on military vessels such as destroyers aircraft carriers and an array of other awe-inspiring Navy vessels! Your golden opportunity for an exhilarating career is knocking - are you ready to answer the call The journey begins here - with Global- a 1st Flagship Company where we are currently looking for a Safety Helper to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the repair clean-up encapsulation and removal of hazardous materials such as PACM PCB mercury lead etc.
  • Support the operation and maintenance of the Hazardous Waste Accumulation Area (HWAA) ensuring compliance with all safety and environmental guidelines.
  • Assist with atmospheric testing to ensure safe personnel entry and hot work in enclosed and confined spaces.
  • Help conduct annual vessel and facility Workplace Hazard Inspections as well as daily waterfront inspections for safety hazards.
  • Develop a foundational understanding of safety and environmental compliance hazardous materials and waste regulations.
  • Serve as a Safety Observer in training maintaining alertness to oversee and promote workplace safety.
  • Adhere to corporate core values policies and procedures in the execution of all duties.
  • Collaborate effectively with coworkers in a professional manner.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • One year of general labor experience in a maritime environment or relevant military experience.
  • Valid state drivers license and eligibility to operate company/government vehicles.
  • Must be medically qualified to wear a negative pressure respirator.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in safety or hazardous material/hazardous waste handling.
  • Certification or training in any of the following:
  • AHERA Building Inspector Certification
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification (HW42)
  • OSHA 10-hour Maritime Card
  • Certified Asbestos Worker with current Washington State license
  • Shipyard Competent Person (gas-free) certification
  • HWAA Operator (HW49) qualified

Skills:

  • General computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to learn and apply Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and directives related to Environmental Protection and Hazardous Material handling.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to maintain close working relationships with employees supervisors management and external stakeholders including military subcontractors and government representatives.
