THE ROLE
Job Summary:
Under the direction of OperationsManager the Safety Coordinatoris responsible forestablishingand maintaining a collaborative safety culture that adheres to all regulatory standards and beyond.The position is also tasked with developing safety policiesproceduresand general processes that willassistin shaping our organization for the future.
Education:Bachelors degree in safety scienceengineeringor industrial hygiene discipline.
Experience:Entry to mid-level relevant experience
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
- Understanding ofOSHA guidelines as they pertain to manufacturing facilities including the comprehension and interpretation of legal precedents throughout the industry.
- Knowledge of legal requirements related to workplace safety including accident reporting and investigations.
- Experience in reporting and developing policies.
- Capable of developing and implementing training programs.
- Comfortable in a team environment with many different cross-collaboration partnerships.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Problem solving and analytical capabilities.
- Detail oriented and strong organizational skills.
- Self-driven once broad goals and expectations have beenestablished.

KeyResponsibilities:
- Works closely with staff in engineering human resources legal operations and research and development.
- Provides technical safety and operational training to production personnel.
- Provide on-call evening and weekend support as needed to ensure safe and efficient 24/7 operations.
- Has an understanding ofa BBS (Behavioral Based Safety) Program.
- Prepares written safety programs and policies.
- Identifiescompany safety and operational training needs and develops and coordinates training programs.
- Participates in new product/process reviews including process hazard analysesoperations technicianstraining etc.
- Supports operations/plant engineering to implement engineering controls to minimize safety and occupational health hazards.
- Supports plant personnel inselectionofappropriate personalprotective equipment.
- Maintains safetylibrary(e.g. videos regulations reference manuals).
- Ensurecompliance with all environmental regulations.
- Writesmaintainsand communicates Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and operational instructions for all processes and equipment.
- Assistsas necessary in implementation of a hazard communication program and preparation of reports.
- Reviews process-operating procedures/records and provides input for safety and health considerations.
- Understands federal and state occupational safety and health regulations andmonitorsregulatory changes as they occur.
- Provides technical support to corporate and plant personnel to ensure compliance with applicable occupational safety and health regulations.
- Audits practices and records of manufacturing plants to ensure compliance with company programs and federal/state occupational safety and health regulations.
- Monitors lost-time injuries/illnesses andworkerscompensation claims.
- Coordinates plant safety committee meeting minutes and safety inspection reports and followsupas necessary.
- Performs injury/illness and non-injury incident investigation reports and followsupas necessary.
- Assistin the oversight and continued development of the employee training and evaluation program.
- Work closely with other departments on the overall visualization of the facility including picture board work instructions and video training aids.
