Job Summary
The Manager Fleet & Safetyis responsible forleading and administering IOSs fleet management driver safety workplace safety regulatory compliance workers compensation and risk management programs across all divisions. Reporting to the Senior Vice President Operations this role ensures the organizationmaintainsa safe work environment operates a compliant and efficient vehicle fleet and effectively manages operational risk.
The Manager Fleet & Safety partners closely with Division Leaders Operations Managers HR Facilities and field personnel to promote a culture of safety accountability and continuous improvement. This position serves as the primary administrator for fleet and safety systems regulatory compliance programs incident investigations and safety training initiatives while supporting companywide operational excellence.
Duties/Responsibilities
Fleet Management & Compliance
  • Manage company fleet operations ensuring compliance with all DOT FMCSA state and local regulations.
  • Administer fleet management systems and telematics platforms (e.g. Samsara) tomonitorvehicleutilization driver behavior maintenance and compliance.
  • Coordinate vehicle acquisition assignment registration licensing inspections and disposal activities.
  • Develop andmaintaindriver qualification files motor vehicle record (MVR) review programs and fleet compliance documentation.
  • Monitor fleet performance metrics andidentifyopportunities to improve safetyutilization and operating costs.
  • Partner with Operations Managers to ensure vehicles trailers and equipment meet IOS safety and maintenance standards.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance programs and track vehicle lifecycle replacement recommendations.
Safety & Regulatory Compliance
  • Administer companywide safety programs policies procedures and training initiatives.
  • Support OSHA compliance efforts andmaintainreadiness for inspections audits and regulatory inquiries.
  • Conduct safety auditsjobsiteinspections facility walkthroughs and compliance assessments across divisions.
  • Investigate workplace incidents vehicle accidents near misses and property damage events.
  • Lead root cause analyses and implement corrective and preventive action plans.
  • Track and report safety performance metrics including incident rates leading indicators and corrective action completion.
  • Maintain required safety documentation records certifications and regulatory reporting.
  • Serve as a safety resource for field teams supervisors and operational leadership.
Workers Compensation Claims & Risk Management
  • Manage workers compensationclaimsadministration in partnership with HR insurance carriers brokers and third-party administrators.
  • Coordinate injury reporting claim investigations and return-to-work programs.
  • Monitor claim trends and recommend initiatives to reduce claim frequency and severity.
  • Assistwith liability auto and propertyclaimsinvestigations and documentation.
  • Support annual insurance renewals by providing fleet safety and claims data.
  • Track and support initiatives designed to improve EMR performance and reduce insurance costs.
Training & Safety Culture
  • Coordinate safety orientation driver training certification programs and recurring compliance training.
  • SupportdivisionSafety Captains and Operations Managers in delivering local safety initiatives.
  • Develop safety communications toolbox talks and awareness campaigns.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture focused on hazard identification accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Track training completion and certification requirements across the organization.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
  • Develop andmaintainfleet and safety dashboards scorecards and KPI reporting.
  • Analyze trends related to accidents injuries vehicleutilization claims and compliance performance.
  • Recommend process improvements that enhance safety operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.
  • Support implementation ofnew technologies systems and best practices related to fleet and safety management.
  • Provide regular reporting and recommendations to the Senior Vice President Operations.
MinimumRequirements
  • Bachelors degree in Occupational Safety Environmental Health & Safety Operations Management Business Administration or a related field preferred.
  • 58 years of progressive experience in fleet management safety risk management construction operations manufacturinglogistics ora relatedindustry.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA DOT/FMCSA workers compensation and risk management principles.
  • Experience administering fleet management and telematics platforms such as Samsara or similar systems.
  • Demonstratedsuccessinvestigating incidents managing corrective actions and implementing safety programs.
  • Experience managing workers compensation claims and coordinating return-to-workprogramspreferred.
  • Proficiencywith Microsoft Office and operational reporting tools.
  • Excellent organizational communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to travelapproximately 2540% of the time to support multiple IOS divisions conduct site audits lead safety initiatives andparticipatein operational reviews.
