Primary Responsibilities

• Maintain excellence in safetyhealthand environmental practices

• Actively support Albemarles safety culture by promoting safe behaviorscomplying withmaterial and chemical handling policies and contributing to continuous improvement of safety practices.

• Complete all required safety training.

• Conductlabexperiments.

• Apply research acumen to independently draft experimental plans andexecute toconclusions.

• Contributeintellectually to project technical strategy analyze experimental ideas from others andidentifyopportunities for improvement in the proposed lab studies.

• Able tosafelyoperatediagnoseproblems and perform preventative maintenance onawidevariety of plastic processingequipment and analytical testing instruments.

• Analyze sampleswith accuracy and precisiondetect errorsappropriatelydocumentresults andauthorand followSOP methodsforlab experiments.

• Assistin the scheduling of lab work for yourself andother team members.

• Train and mentor less experienced colleagues.

• Independentandhasabilityto work alone without supervision. Follow tasks to completionincluding good housekeepingpractices.

• Able to wear required PPElift upto 50lbs(over 50 with assistance) with necessaryassistance and stand/walk forlong periodsof time

• Standingfor 6 hours/shift

• Required to be able to climb a 6 ladder to safely navigate stairwellsusing handrails at all times

• Safelyoperatehand tools power tools and compressed gas cylinders

• Feel confident tooperatelarge machinery such asextrudersinjection molding machines Brabender mixingbowlsandfork lifts(withspecializedtraining).

• Operatevery hotprocess equipment while using theappropriateengineeringcontrols andPPE.

• Willing to work overtime if necessary

Education and Experience Requirements

• Associatesor higherdegreein a STEM (Science Technology Engineering or Math) fieldisdesired; however two years of directly relevant experience or five years of related experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.

• Experienceconducting lab workis.

• Extrusion compounding injectionmoldingandplasticstestingexperienceisdesired.

• Experience using SAP Microsoft Office TeamsandLIMSsoftwareisdesired.

• Strong strategic thinking and analytical problem-solving skills.

• Ability to balance individual and team responsibilities.

• Highly organized and excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Chemicalsand equipmentto work with:

• Polymers and resins

• Additivesfor plasticsincluding fire retardants

• Organic solvents(for example acetone or xylenes)

• Mixing and handling of powders

• Work in labsadjacent toother chemical hazards including bromine and organic solvents

• Hot resins and/or flaming test bars

• Equipment that gives off high radiant heat

• Rotating equipmentand/or injection molding machines

• Compressed gas cylindersand cryogenic materials such as liquid nitrogen
