Job Description
Summary:
Mary Washington Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist with strong NICU experience for a 13-week travel assignment. This is a blended NICU and Adult Critical Care position requiring clinicians to provide respiratory care across multiple patient populations and departments.
This is NOT a NICU-only assignment. Therapists will rotate between NICU Adult ICU ICU Stepdown Emergency Department Pediatric Units and Medical Floors based on census and patient acuity. Candidates must have recent hands-on NICU experience and should not be submitted if their NICU background is limited to occasional floating.
Responsibilities:
Provide respiratory care to neonatal pediatric and adult patients.
Assist with high-risk deliveries and neonatal respiratory stabilization.
Manage ventilator support including CPAP BiPAP SIMV High Frequency Oscillator and High Frequency Jet Ventilator.
Perform airway management suctioning extubation support and intubation assistance.
Draw analyze and interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs).
Administer respiratory medications using aerosol systems nebulizers MDIs and tracheostomy delivery systems.
Manage oxygen therapy including High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC).
Provide respiratory support in NICU Adult ICU ICU Stepdown Emergency Department Pediatric Units and Medical Floors.
Participate in trauma and emergency respiratory interventions.
Float within scope of practice to meet facility needs.
Attend monthly department meetings or review meeting minutes and provide acknowledgment when not scheduled.
Key Requirements:
Strong NICU Respiratory Therapy experience required.
NICU float-only experience is not acceptable.
Must be comfortable floating to:
- Adult ICU
- ICU Stepdown
- Emergency Department
- Pediatric Units
- Medical/Surgical Floors
Community Hospital experience required.
Epic EMR experience required.
Travel experience required.
Trauma Level II experience required.
Ability to work weekends holidays and potential on-call assignments.
Must possess strong airway management and ventilator management experience.
Qualifications
Education:
Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
Experience:
Required:
Minimum 2 years recent Respiratory Therapy experience.
Strong NICU experience.
Adult Critical Care experience.
Emergency Department respiratory care experience.
Community Hospital experience.
Airway management experience.
Medication administration experience.
ABG draw and interpretation experience.
Oxygen therapy and pulmonary toileting experience.
BiPAP CPAP and nebulizer therapy experience.
Preferred:
4 years Respiratory Therapy experience.
Previous Charge Therapist experience.
Trauma Level I experience.
NICU Adult ICU ED and Pediatric respiratory care experience.
Level II Trauma Center experience.
Travel assignment experience.
License:
Required:
Active Virginia Respiratory Therapy License
OR
Proof of Virginia license application submitted with an active state Respiratory Therapy license (national credential alone is not acceptable)
Required Certifications:
BLS
ACLS*
CRT
*ACLS may be pending at submission and obtained within 90 days of start date.
