Job Summary

Summary

Our client runs a well-established IBM i (AS/400) environment and is looking for an experienced RPG Engineer to own critical business applications end-to-end. This is a great fit for someone who wants deep ownership of a legacy-but-vital platform rather than being one of many hands on a sprawling codebase.

Responsibilities

Own the design development testing and maintenance of applications written in RPG for IBM i (AS/400) systems.
Develop and maintain new and existing applications using RPG IV ILE RPG and Free-form RPG.
Perform system analysis design and coding for a range of business requirements.
Troubleshoot debug and resolve issues in existing RPG applications.
Collaborate with business analysts and other developers to translate requirements into technical specifications.
Participate in testing and quality assurance activities to ensure application reliability and performance.
Document technical specifications program code and system processes.

Required Qualifications

Proven experience as an RPG Developer or Engineer.
Strong proficiency in RPG IV ILE RPG and Free-form RPG.
Experience with DB2/400 SQL and other IBM i native databases.
Familiarity with modern development tools and methodologies on the IBM i platform.
Excellent problem-solving analytical and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.
