Job Summary

Rough Mill Operator - 1st Shift

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

A Rough Mill Operator Assistant works in a high noise level area requiring hearing protection and eye protection at all times. The operator will be trained on various pcs of equipment and will be required to follow all standard operating procedures. Various tools and computers are utilized in this position to maintain accurate production of dimension items. This is a fast-paced and quality driven position which requires standing lifting bending and frequent lifting of up to 40 pounds.

Additional duties required during rough mill downtime:

  • Cleaning of area to ensure safe working conditions
  • Flex to other areas if needed
  • Expanding knowledge of the department to cover all areas

When necessary may be required to work performing the following functions:

  • Stacking in the Rough Mill
  • Catch mouldings for operators in the moulding department
  • Operating the Resaw
  • Cleaning of production equipment in other departments

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be able to read and understand Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and when appropriate participate in modification of SOP to improve productivity and quality of product.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs

Working Conditions:

  • High noise level - must wear hearing protection
  • Standing for the entire shift
  • Eye protection is also required at all times.
  • Fast paced and quality quantity-driven
