Job Summary
The RN provides patient care through assessment planning implementation and evaluation and collaborates with the healthcare team to develop and adjust care plans while building clinical competency.
The Nurse Resident
- Delivers high-quality patient care and customer service while demonstrating respect dignity kindness and empathy in all interactions.
- Assumes accountability for coordination and delivery of individualized patient care across all age groups.
- Participates in the Nurse Residency Program to develop clinical judgment critical thinking leadership skills and professional confidence.
- Assesses plans implements and evaluates patient care to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Completes and documents age-specific assessments to support development of care plans.
- Collaborates with patients families and interdisciplinary teams to develop and adjust care plans.
- Administers treatments and medications accurately and documents care in electronic medical records.
- Identifies and addresses patient and family education needs.
- Participates in performance improvement and quality initiatives.
- Advocates for patients and supports their rights and psychosocial needs.
- Applies knowledge of growth and development to provide age-appropriate care.
- Demonstrates developing clinical expertise in dynamic care environments.
- Implements strategies to support patient outcomes and efficient care delivery.
- Manages resources prioritizes tasks and adapts to changing patient care needs.
- Uses problem-solving skills to address patient care and operational challenges.
- Participates in orientation training and professional development activities.
- Provides feedback and contributes to a collaborative team environment.
- Participates in unit hospital and system initiatives supporting shared decision-making.
- Supports education activities within the department.
- Attends required Nurse Residency Program sessions and completes associated assignments.
Education: Graduate of a State Board of Nursing approved program required.
Experience: None required.
Licensure Certification and/or Registration: Current Registered Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia required with less than 1 year of experience. For Behavioral Health roles de-escalation training must be completed within 1 year of hire and maintained.
Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required. Additional certifications such as ACLS PALS or NRP may be required based on assigned work area.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Must attend required Nurse Residency Program sessions. Keyboarding skills and computer literacy required including use of electronic medical records.
Career Advancement Program: RNs are eligible to participate in the Career Advancement Program (CAP) to attain various levels of advancement based on performance criteria.

Compensation Range:
$33.52 - $50.28Employee pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications credentials education and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
