Who We Are:

The Elliot 1 Day Surgery Center Operating Room is one of the largest most active OR departments in the state located at the Elliot Hospital in Manchester New Hampshire. Its designed to provide minimally invasive surgical procedures with the highest level of quality care and patient satisfaction. We are fully equipped with state-of-the-art technology that can offer a wide range of services including laparoscopic surgery endoscopy urology and gynecology.

Our teams of surgeons anesthesiologists nurses and other medical personnel are committed to providing the highest quality patient care in a safe and comfortable environment. The center also offers pre-surgical testing post-operative care and education to ensure a smooth transition back to normal activities.

About the Job:

The RN Perioperative Education Specialist will act as a facilitator of learning and will serve as a change agent mentor leader champion of scientific inquiry and a partner for practice transition. The incumbent will use tools theories skills and knowledge of the nursing professional development specialty to improve the healthcare practice of the perioperative learner. Support licensed and non licensed personnel in onboarding orientation ongoing competency and role development inclusive of RNs Surgical Techs and any other support staff included in the perioperative setting. Facilitate collaborative partnership and promote evidence-based practice and quality improvement initiatives.

What Youll Do:

• In collaboration with each unit-based Resource RN provide oversight and coordination of perioperative specifics including but not limited to onboarding/orientation of new staff education and competency management research and/or evidence-based practice and quality improvement.
• Provide professional role development.
• Manage and is responsible for the perioperative 101 program and the development of new Operating Room nurses.
• Facilitate student observation in the department.
• Coordinate/facilitate educational activities in collaboration with other departments or representatives.
• Participate in new product evaluation and facilitate education for staff when new product or equipment is introduced.
• Participate and represent the department in committees and meetings.
• Support all surgical services including PACU/Pre-Op/ IR/Endo in collaboration with each Resource Nurse.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Who You Are:

• A minimum of five (5) years of RN operating room experience required.
• BSN required. Masters degree in Nursing preferred.
• New Hampshire license as a Registered Nurse required.
• Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) required.
• Professional knowledge of the theories principles and practice of professional nursing development with expertise in education curriculum design and technology.
• Comprehensive knowledge of complex systems organizational structure health care quality and regulatory and accreditation standards.
• Demonstrated achievement relative to career development education leadership and project management.
