RN Flex Pool
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and adaptable Registered Nurse (RN) to join a Flex Pool team on a contract assignment. This position requires floating between various Medical-Surgical and Step-Down units to provide high-quality patient care based on staffing and patient care needs. The ideal candidate is clinically strong flexible and comfortable working across multiple inpatient settings.
Key Responsibilities-
Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients in Medical-Surgical and Step-Down units.

Float between assigned patient care areas as needed to support operational and staffing requirements.

Conduct patient assessments develop care plans and evaluate patient responses to treatment.

Administer medications treatments and therapeutic interventions in accordance with physician orders and nursing standards.

Monitor patient conditions and promptly communicate significant changes to the healthcare team.

Utilize critical thinking and sound clinical judgment to prioritize and coordinate patient care.

Collaborate with physicians therapists case managers and interdisciplinary team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Accurately document patient care activities and assessments within the electronic medical record (EMR).

Maintain compliance with infection control standards patient safety initiatives and regulatory requirements.

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license or ability to obtain required state licensure before assignment start.
-
Minimum of two (2) years of recent acute care nursing experience.

Experience in Medical-Surgical and/or Step-Down nursing environments.

Strong clinical assessment communication and organizational skills.

Ability to adapt quickly to different patient populations and unit workflows.
-
Willingness to float between multiple units as needed.

Basic Life Support (BLS)

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
-
Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
-
Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC)

Procedural Sedation Certification
The Flex Pool RN may be assigned to:

Medical-Surgical Units
-
Surgical Acute Care Units
-
Cardiovascular/Step-Down Units (as needed)
Assignments will be based on patient census acuity and staffing needs.
Equipment & TechnologyExperience with the following equipment and systems is preferred:

Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems

Automated medication dispensing systems (e.g. Pyxis)

Wound Vacuum-Assisted Closure (VAC) devices

Chest Tube Management Systems

Night Shift
-
12-Hour Shifts (6:45 PM 7:15 AM)

Approximately 36 scheduled hours per week following orientation

Hours are based on facility needs and are not guaranteed

Holiday coverage required

Comprehensive orientation provided.

Unit-specific training included for each clinical area where the nurse may be assigned.

Additional onboarding and employee health requirements must be completed prior to the start of the assignment.

Candidates must obtain all required state licensure prior to the start of the assignment.

Proof of required immunizations and immunity status must be provided.

Medical or religious exemption requests will not be accepted in place of required immunity documentation.

The ideal candidate is a versatile dependable and patient-focused RN with strong Medical-Surgical and Step-Down experience. Successful candidates will be comfortable floating between units adapting to changing patient care needs and delivering exceptional nursing care in a fast-paced acute care environment.
