Role Overview

A healthcare organization in Providence RI is seeking an experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurse to support its Womens Emergency Department on a 90-day contract assignment. This position focuses on emergency nursing care patient coordination discharge planning and collaboration within a fast-paced clinical environment.

This role is ideal for experienced ER nurses with strong Labor Delivery & Recovery (LDR) backgrounds who are comfortable working night shifts and caring for high-acuity womens health and emergency patients.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care & Assessment

Implement and monitor individualized patient care plans

Assess patient conditions and provide emergency nursing care

Monitor record and communicate patient status appropriately

Respond quickly to emergent and acute patient situations

Provide compassionate support to patients and families during crisis situations

Care Coordination

Coordinate care between physicians specialty providers and nursing teams

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare staff

Support continuity of care and patient management

Facilitate specialty consultations and emergency interventions

Ensure clear communication across all departments involved in patient care

Clinical Duties

Carry out physician and nursing orders accurately

Administer medications and treatments safely

Monitor patient responses and treatment effectiveness

Perform emergency nursing interventions and procedures

Maintain accurate EPIC documentation and charting

Support Womens Emergency Department clinical operations

Discharge Planning

Assess discharge planning needs for patients

Provide patient and family education regarding follow-up care

Coordinate discharge instructions and support services

Assist with transitions to inpatient outpatient or home care settings

Safety & Patient Support

Assist with patient lifting and transportation when necessary

Follow infection control and patient safety procedures

Maintain professional nursing standards and emergency protocols

Support safe and efficient emergency department operations

Requirements

Minimum 5 years of Emergency Room nursing experience required

Labor Delivery & Recovery (LDR) experience required

Active Rhode Island RN License required

Current BLS Certification required

Current ACLS Certification required

Current PALS Certification required

Current NIH Stroke Certification required

EPIC proficiency required

Strong emergency nursing and patient assessment skills

Ability to work effectively in fast-paced high-stress environments

Preferred Qualifications

Womens Emergency Room experience

Obstetric nursing background

Contract or traveler nursing experience

Strong interdisciplinary communication skills

Excellent patient advocacy and bedside manner

Experience managing multiple high-acuity patients simultaneously

Physical Requirements

Ability to assist with patient lifting and transfers

Ability to work 12-hour night shifts

Physical stamina for standing and walking throughout shifts

Ability to respond rapidly to emergency situations

Manual dexterity for clinical procedures and documentation

Compensation & Schedule

Avg Pay: $72.07/HR

Schedule: 7:00 PM7:30 AM

36 Hours Per Week

Night Shift Only

90-Day Contract
