Job Summary
The RN Team Lead provides clinical leadership and oversight for patient care delivery while supporting staff development operational efficiency and quality outcomes. This role serves as a clinical resource mentor and team leader to ensure high-quality patient-centered care across assigned areas.
The RN Team Lead
- Serves as a team leader clinical resource mentor and role model for staff.
- Provides direct patient care and coordinates care delivery for patients of all ages.
- Assesses plans implements and evaluates patient care to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Leads and mobilizes the care team to support positive patient outcomes.
- Facilitates effective communication and resolves operational issues within the work group.
- Supports staff development through coaching mentoring and performance feedback.
- Participates in performance evaluations and contributes to development planning.
- Assists with staffing scheduling and workload distribution to ensure adequate coverage.
- Collaborates with leadership on fiscal management resource allocation and budget considerations.
- Participates in performance improvement patient satisfaction and quality initiatives.
- Conducts team meetings and promotes a positive accountable work environment.
- Ensures compliance with regulatory licensure and accreditation standards.
- Communicates effectively with patients families staff and interdisciplinary teams.
- Maintains confidentiality and exercises sound judgment in handling sensitive information.
- Supports organizational initiatives and adapts to changing priorities.
- Responds to staffing needs including supporting other Carilion facilities as required.
Education: Graduate of a State Board of Nursing approved program required.
Experience: Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience including demonstrated clinical and leadership expertise required.
Licensure Certification and/or Registration: Current Registered Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia required. For Behavioral Health roles de-escalation training must be completed within the required timeframe. For OB/GYN roles EFM NCC certification required.
Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required. ACLS PALS or NRP may be required based on assigned work area.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Demonstrated leadership interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Ability to manage challenging patient situations as appropriate to role.

Compensation Range:
$39.00 - $62.40Employee pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications credentials education and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
