Scope of work
The Charge Lead Nurse in the Operating Room oversees daily operations within their assigned service line to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality patient care. Responsibilities include participating in a rotating administrative call schedule monitoring work-related communications after hours and coordinating upcoming cases by contacting vendor representatives and ensuring necessary products and equipment are available. The role also involves reviewing case carts for accuracy circulating rooms as needed and providing real-time oversight and education to OR staff during procedures.
Additionally the Charge Lead Nurse reviews future cases in Epic to confirm proper scheduling including appropriate case length and room assignments. This position supports team continuity by covering other service lines when needed and assigning appropriate coverage during their own absence helping to maintain consistent operations across the department.
Qualifications
Associates in Nursing Required
Bachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years
Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination.
MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required
AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required
Specialty Certification highly recommended within 2 years
2 years of RN experience preferred
