Job Summary
Farm Credit Illinois is seeking a motivated college student to join our Enterprise Risk Management team as a Risk Intern in Summer 2027. This paid internship provides hands-on experience supporting operational risk management programs completing clearly defined work through detailed step-by-step instructions collaborating with employees and vendor contacts and building practical skills that strengthen a resume and prepare the intern for future professional opportunities.

Dedicated to Helping Farm Families Succeed FCI provides competitive and flexible financing crop insurance expertise and Rural 1st country life lending. FCI manages an $8 billion loan portfolio sells 1.5 million acres of crop insurance coverage and employs 300 staff in the Mahomet headquarters and 14 regional offices.
What You Will Do:
- Support the Third-Party Risk Management Program by uploading documents initiating vendor risk assessment workflows and sending template communications to vendor owners and vendor contacts.
- Assist with the Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) Program by gathering control evidence and documentation and updating testing steps.
- Create clear engaging fraud prevention education content for social media newsletters and other deliverables.
- Follow detailed procedures and established templates to complete work accurately consistently and on schedule.
- Gain experience with risk management internal controls vendor oversight professional communication documentation and fraud prevention education.
- Participate in a mentor program and team-building activities while learning about agriculture in central and southern Illinois.
- Receive a competitive hourly wage of $20.00 per hour living stipend reimbursement for business travel and paid leave in accordance with the Paid Leave for All Workers Act.
- Work full-time (MF 8:00 a.m. 4:30 p.m. May 17 2027 August 5 2027) from our Mahomet headquarters with occasional travel across the southern 60 counties of Illinois. Summer housing in or around Champaign County is required.
Eligibility: Must be enrolled as a college sophomore junior senior or graduate student during the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters with the intent to be enrolled as students in Fall 2027 as well. Preferred majors include agricultural business agriculture economics or business.
