Revenue Integrity Accountant

Job Summary
The Revenue Accountant is a hands-on individual contributor who connects Finance and Revenue Cycle Management to help ensure patient revenue cash collections adjustments and accounts receivable activity are accurately reflected in Sage Intacct and supporting financial reports. This role prepares revenue reconciliations researches discrepancies validates back-end revenue data and system interfaces and supports assigned month-end close activities related to revenue and cash.
The position collaborates closely with the Controller Accounting Revenue Cycle Billing Operations and external partners. It is designed as an experienced specialist role with strong reconciliation and healthcare revenue cycle responsibilities. The role does not supervise or review the work of other accountants and is not positioned above the Accountant II.
Revenue Reconciliation & Accounting Support
Reconcile revenue cash collections accounts receivable activity adjustments refunds credits and write-offs between Athena bank activity Sage Intacct and other supporting reports.
Prepare weekly and monthly revenue reconciliation schedules with clear documentation of source data variances and outstanding items.
Research differences between billing activity deposits remittance information and general ledger postings; coordinate timely correction or escalation.
Validate that revenue-related data imports mappings and system interfaces are complete and posting to the appropriate entity location department provider and general ledger account.
Prepare or support revenue-related journal entries reclasses accruals and other assigned month-end close entries for Controller review.
Maintain assigned revenue and accounts receivable schedules and ensure supporting detail aligns with the general ledger.
Revenue Cycle Management & Revenue Integrity
Partner with RCM and Billing teams to understand charges payments denials contractual adjustments administrative adjustments refunds unapplied cash credit balances and other revenue-cycle activity.
Monitor reconciliation exceptions and unusual trends including missing transactions duplicate postings delayed interfaces mapping errors unexplained adjustments and out-of-balance reports.
Assist with validation of payer provider practice location and service-level revenue reporting used by Finance and operational leadership.
Support reconciliation of deposits to payment posting and identify timing differences or transactions requiring follow-up.
Help maintain consistent adjustment and write-off classifications and supporting documentation in coordination with RCM and Finance.
Collaborate with RCM and operational stakeholders to resolve root causes rather than only clearing individual reconciling items.
Month-End Close Reporting & Analysis
Complete assigned revenue cash and accounts receivable close tasks within established deadlines.
Prepare recurring revenue reports roll forwards trend analyses and supporting schedules for review by the Controller and Accounting team.
Assist with variance analysis by identifying drivers of revenue collection adjustment and accounts receivable fluctuations.
Provide organized support for audit tax compliance and external reporting requests related to assigned revenue processes.
Support provider- practice- department- or location-level analyses as assigned.
Systems Controls & Process Improvement
Support testing validation troubleshooting and stabilization of revenue workflows involving Sage Intacct Athena banking platforms and related systems.
Document reconciliation procedures data sources report parameters mapping logic handoffs and escalation paths.
Identify control gaps recurring reconciliation issues and opportunities to reduce manual work while preserving appropriate review and validation.
Maintain complete organized and audit-ready documentation for assigned processes.
Communicate issues financial impact research completed and recommended next steps clearly to the Controller and relevant stakeholders.
Education and Experience
Associate degree in Accounting Finance Business Healthcare Administration or a related field preferred; equivalent healthcare revenue cycle billing reconciliation or accounting experience may substitute for formal education.
Three or more years of relevant experience in healthcare revenue cycle medical billing reimbursement accounts receivable revenue accounting or financial reconciliation preferred.
Demonstrated experience reconciling data across multiple systems and researching variances to resolution.
Working knowledge of accounting fundamentals including revenue cash accounts receivable journal entries and general ledger tie-outs.
Healthcare or multi-entity experience strongly preferred.
Athena reporting or practice-management-system experience strongly preferred.
Sage Intacct or other ERP experience preferred.
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills including experience working with large data sets lookups pivot tables and reconciliation schedules.
Bachelors degree and CPA certification are not required.
