Retail Sales Associate

• Ability to read write and comprehend directions and instructions; basic computer skills

• Outstanding interpersonal and oral communication skills and the ability to work confidently and courteously with museum staff and the general public

• Ability to function efficiently professionally and graciously in a fast-paced high-pressure environment providing a high standard of customer service

• Ability to stand for long periods of time with scheduled breaks

• Willingness to learn about our collections products and events

• Ability to attend trainings and meetings

• Ability to communicate with the public in person

Additional Requirements:

• Scheduled a minimum of 10 hours per weekand has availability for nights weekends and holidays

• Arrive on time for shifts and alert a manager as soon as possible if unable to do so

• Adheres to all VMFA Museum and Shop policies

• Provide knowledgeablerespectfuland engaging customer service to all guests

• Partner with management to resolve and accommodate customer requests/issues

• Knowledgeable on museum collections and exhibitionsprogramsand shop events

• Actively learn about merchandise to better engage with customers

• Keep up to date on all training resources and completes mandatory training sessions

• Strictly adhere to the VMFA Shop cash handling procedures

• Knowledgeable in Counterpoint processing sales and returns and opening/closing a register

• Become proficient with the museums membership program and selling regular and gift memberships

• Maintaining a clean well-stocked and organized sales floor

• Attentive on the sales floor to uphold loss prevention policies and procedures and minimize loss
