Job Summary
We are seeking a customer-focused and energetic Retail Sales Associate to join our clients home improvement team. This is a temporary-to-permanent position with a 90-day probationary period. High-performing associates who demonstrate strong attendance teamwork and excellent customer service will be eligible to transition into a permanent role after 90 days.
In this role you will help DIY customers and professional contractors find the right materials for their projects. You will help maintain organized departments restock inventory and deliver excellent service to drive sales.
Core Responsibilities
- Customer Engagement: Greet customers answer project-related questions and proactively offer product recommendations across various departments (e.g. Flooring Cabinetry Doors Windows).
- Inventory & Merchandising: Maintain fully stocked clean and organized shelves. Pack down overhead inventory and ensure pricing labels are accurate.
- Order Fulfillment: Assist with pulling staging and loading heavy or bulky merchandise for customer pickups and online orders.
- Store Safety: Adhere to all safety guidelines keep aisles free of debris and report potential hazards immediately.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: High school diploma GED or equivalent experience preferred.
- Experience: 3 years previous retail customer service or big-box store experience is a plus.
- Industry Knowledge: Basic familiarity with home improvement projects tools or building materials is highly valued.
- Reliability: Strong attendance and punctuality are critical for evaluation during the 90-day contract period.
- Schedule Flexibility: Availability to work a flexible schedule including Saturdays.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand walk bend and reach continuously throughout an 8-hour shift.
- Ability to lift push pull and maneuver merchandise weighing up to 50 to 75 lbs independently or with team assistance.
