JOB FUNCTION:
Is the subject matter expert for creating job packages and scheduling planned and unplanned maintenance and repair work for all HECO T&D Operations and Substation assets customer new installations and other projects as assigned. Liaisons with various process areas within SVP Operations to coordinate activities for the successful and safe completion of scheduled work including creating and taking hold offs ensuring equipment and material is available of the proper type and quantity and monitoring projects to fornew Resource Planners.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develops the work scope for the work to be performed for customer system corrective & preventive maintenance activities (Overhead and Underground) taking into account forecasted budgets and variancespast history performance monitoring and other documentation. This information will come from Asset Management Maintenance Engineers Engineering & Customer Engineering and computerized systems like SAP SIMS and maintenance inspection databases.
- Plans the work to be done for customer system corrective and preventive activities based on work scopes includes researching and identifying the work to be done; writing work procedures; researching identifying preparing requisitions and ordering equipment services and materials needed to accomplish the job; submitting holdoffs and making customer outage arrangements for the safety of personnel performing the work; understanding community impacts related to scheduled jobs and ensuring proper notifications and arrangements are made; and estimating job duration and manpower requirements. Coordination of work with and for customers and government agencies may be required. Ensures compliance with all appropriate documentation systems SAP Click SIMS & etc.) and work planning policies and procedures.
- Creates the schedule to coordinate Operations areas personnel vendors and outside services for customer system corrective and preventive activities in which resource utilization is the schedule in the software available and takes into account other work equipment and resource availability materials availability and budget constraints. Coordinates work between various baseyards.
- Evaluates and measures work progress on a daily basis; adjusts and updates computerized schedule and the allocation of resources and materials as needed to ensure that the work planned is completed per schedule. Provides updates and estimates of effort needed to complete work. Coordinates and facilitates project meetings before during and after the work effort if needed.
- Identifies the present and future demand schedules for projects/work in close collaboration with other departments for work & budgetary purposes. Creates work orders to track costs. Prepares reports on resource needs and availability for all resources including but not limited to personnel monetary equipment and material.
- Establishes benchmarks with respect to tasks and resource allocation. Promotes teamwork and self-directed workforce in support of the corporate and department mission/vision.
- Supports two-way communication to ensure feedback is received and customer satisfaction is achieved.
- Interacts with all employees and other internal and external suppliers and customers in a positive supportive and collaborative manner to ensure the fulfillment of company strategic objectives.
- Participates in Company emergency response activities as assigned including any activities required to prepare for such emergency response.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge Requirements
- Engineering degree in mechanicalelectricalor civil disciplinesis a plusand may be substituted for up to 3years experience
- Journeyman Linemanor Substation Electriciancertification with5years experiencein the construction and maintenance ofelectricalutility facilitiesequipment and substationsmay be substituted for up to 3years experience
- Working knowledgeofestimating planning or scheduling of constructionmaintenanceor operationsactivitieshighly desirable
- General knowledge ofelectrical utility transmission anddistributionssystemfacilities and equipment acceptable work practices and safety requirementsdesirable.
- Ability toreadand understandconstruction drawingsand standardspreferablywith some knowledge ofelectrical drawings (one linediagrams electronic mapping programs & etc.)
- Understanding ofwarehouse operations such as researching inventoryand ordering equipment and materialspreferred.
- Proficiencywithpersonalcomputersandrelated software applications
- Working knowledge of construction management and contract administration principles.
- Generalknowledge of budgeting and forecastingand utility finance or accounting methods.
- Working knowledgeof project management principles.
- Familiarity with applicable state and federal regulations/permits laws and codes.

- Ability to remain flexible in a demanding work environment and adapt to rapidly changing priorities.
- Must have or be able to qualify for a State of Hawaii drivers license. Must meet the standards for driving positionsstatedin the Hiring Standards for Driving Positions policy. These standards may be adjusted periodically to meet business and safetyobjectives.
- Demonstrateanalytical conceptual andproblem solvingskills to assess the demands of the work recommend proper actions and handle multiple systemsprojectsand programs with minimal supervision.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Leadership skills and ability to work with a variety of individuals occasionallydealing with sensitivedifficultor confrontational issues.
Experience Requirements
- Several(3-5)years experiencein theestimating planning or scheduling of construction maintenance or operationsactivities preferably related to utility facilities or equipment; or
- Several (3-5)years experienceas a construction manager for small to large construction projects preferably with exposure to electric utility work practices construction contract administration utility finance or accounting methods and materialsmanagement;
- A few (1-3)yearsexperiencein project management is desirable.
