Responsibilities:

Job Summary
PGY-1 Resident Physicians are post-graduate physicians in training who are hired to begin to acquire knowledge and skills in their chosen specialty. The PGY-1 residents care for patients under the supervision of both resident physicians (PGY-2 and above) post-graduate fellow physicians and attending physicians who are ultimately responsible for the patients care. The training program is under the direction of the specialty Program Director who has the ultimate responsibility of the training program and evaluation of the PGY-1 residents competency. This training occurs in HonorHealth facilities or through contractual relationships with other outside entities/facilities to provide such training. PGY-1 Residents must meet or exceed all specialty-specific Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) PGY-level competencies and HonorHealth and ACGME requirements in order to successfully complete their PGY-1 year of training.
Essential Functions

• Evaluate patients perform necessary procedures and develop diagnostic and therapeutic plans under the supervision of upper level resident physicians fellows and attending physicians
• Fulfill all residency program requirements including complying with program specific ACGME requirements HonorHealth policies and program specific policies and procedures
• Attend required didactic lectures training conferences and program specific meetings.
• Participate in hospital committees and activities to support the HonorHealth mission and vision.
• Participate in research scholarly activity and/or quality improvement activities. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

• Other Graduate of a US allopathic or osteopathic medical school OR Graduate of an equivalent non-LCME/AOA-accredited program as judged by the specialty Program Director - Required

Experience

• Other Clinical rotations as part of a medical school or previous residency training program or equivalent experience as judged by the specialty Program Director - Required
• Other Clinical rotations in a US hospital or healthcare system. - Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• Other 1)MD or DO or equivalent degree as judged by the specialty Program Director2)Completion of Step 1 & 2 of USMLE or COMLEX 3)Ability to obtain AZ Medical Board training permit under ARS 32-1432.02.4)For non-LCME/AOA schools a valid ECFMG certificate is required prior to start date - Required
