The Anesthesiology Resident TP* participates in structured programs to develop skills in the specialized area of anesthesiology and gain core competencies as prescribed.

  • Receives a focused experience in regional anesthesia during the block rotation.

  • Evaluates patients therapeutic plan under the supervision of senior residents and attending staff. Assists Anesthesiologist by setting-up equipment and preparing medications.

  • Starts IVs and draws arterial and venous blood gases independently.

  • Places central lines arterial catheters and chest tubes.

  • Facilitates attending physicians decisions regarding invasive procedures prior to initiation.

  • Prepares and maintains patient monitoring devices and anesthesia delivery systems pre intra and post anesthesia.

  • Takes into consideration age-specific issues to meet the needs of various patient groups.

  • Maintains quality improvement safety environmental and infection control standards.

  • Documents and maintains preventative maintenance and quality records.

  • Participates in multidisciplinary rounds and meetings and in-services.

  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree in relevant field

  • Certification in relevant specialty or field

  • Minimum 2 years of experience

  • Current Jackson Resident

  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.

  • Ability to analyze organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.

  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to work evenings nights and weekends as necessary.
  • Commitment to the Universitys core values.
