Job Summary
Location: Eastern or Central U.S. / Canada Remote Home Office
We are looking for an experienced Resident Engineer to work closely with enterprise customers on the design adoption and ongoing improvement of network security technologies and operational practices.
This role combines deep technical expertise with a consultative approach. You will work with customer engineering teams security leaders and other stakeholders to understand their environment identify opportunities for improvement and help establish practical strategies for getting greater value from their security investments.
The ideal candidate is comfortable operating in complex enterprise environments can move easily between hands-on technical discussions and strategic conversations and knows how to turn ambiguous challenges into structured plans and measurable outcomes.
- Act as a senior technical resource for assigned enterprise customers providing guidance across network security security operations policy management automation compliance connectivity and related operational processes.
- Develop strong working relationships with customer engineers architects managers and security leadership by serving as a trusted technical advisor.
- Understand customer objectives and translate them into practical technical and operational plans including priorities milestones ownership risks and measures of success.
- Regularly evaluate customer environments to identify issues involving configuration platform utilization data quality processes integrations and operational maturity.
- Recommend architectural configuration integration and process improvements that increase reliability scalability efficiency and security.
- Help customers establish repeatable operating practices and make effective use of automation and standardization.
- Facilitate technical workshops architecture reviews enablement sessions environment assessments planning meetings and executive business reviews.
- Provide technical guidance during upgrades major changes complex troubleshooting efforts and other situations requiring senior-level expertise.
- Create and maintain useful technical documentation operating procedures runbooks and knowledge-transfer materials.
- Coach customer teams so that they can increasingly manage their environments independently and effectively.
- Track important customer initiatives dependencies risks and technical action items while maintaining awareness of overall progress.
- Work closely with internal Customer Success Sales Professional Services Support Product and Engineering organizations to resolve issues and advance customer objectives.
- Represent customer needs internally and help identify opportunities for improving products services and implementation practices.
- 7 years of professional experience in network security security architecture technical account management resident engineering solutions engineering/consulting professional services or a comparable customer-facing technical discipline.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise networking and security technologies including firewalls routing Linux/Unix systems troubleshooting methodologies and basic scripting.
- Experience working with enterprise firewall and security platforms such as Check Point Palo Alto Networks Fortinet Cisco or Juniper.
- Demonstrated ability to investigate complex technical problems and communicate findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience working in large distributed hybrid or otherwise complex enterprise environments.
- Strong consulting and stakeholder-management capabilities including the ability to establish priorities create structure around ambiguous problems and build alignment among multiple teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on technical documentation and knowledge transfer.
- A customer-oriented approach combined with the confidence to question assumptions offer an informed point of view and recommend more sustainable solutions when appropriate.
- Comfortable working independently while coordinating effectively with internal and customer teams.
- Willingness to travel periodically potentially up to approximately 20% primarily to customer locations throughout the Americas.
- Experience with enterprise security policy administration network segmentation security automation regulatory or security compliance application connectivity or formal change-management processes.
- Experience conducting executive or technical business reviews and communicating technical outcomes risks and value to senior customer stakeholders.
- Exposure to cloud and hybrid infrastructure including AWS Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code and configuration/automation technologies such as Terraform Ansible Chef Puppet or CloudFormation.
- Experience integrating security operations with SIEM SOAR ITSM vulnerability management or related enterprise tooling.
- Familiarity with vulnerability management platforms such as Qualys Rapid7 or Tenable.
- Understanding of Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC) principles and processes.
- Experience developing operational standards implementation guides or repeatable technical procedures for enterprise customers.
