Job Title: Resident District Manager Integrated Facilities Management (Higher Education Campus)

Location: Geneva New York (Onsite Full-Time)

Overview

We are seeking a Resident District Manager (RDM) to serve as the senior on-site leader overseeing Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) operations for Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva NY.

This executive-level role is responsible for the strategic direction operational performance financial stewardship and long-term facilities planning of a complex university campus. The RDM acts as the primary liaison between the service organization and university leadership including senior administrators and C-suite stakeholders ensuring that campus infrastructure supports academic excellence sustainability goals and capital investment strategy.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience in higher education or similarly complex institutional environments with strong leadership across multi-disciplinary facilities operations and unionized workforce settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the senior on-site executive liaison to university leadership aligning facilities operations with institutional priorities and long-term campus strategy
  • Lead full Integrated Facilities Management operations including physical plant custodial grounds environmental health & safety (EH&S) energy management and construction services
  • Oversee combined operating and capital budgets exceeding $9M annually ensuring strong financial controls forecasting accuracy and contract compliance
  • Develop and execute multi-year capital plans lifecycle asset strategies and infrastructure investment recommendations
  • Provide executive oversight of campus operations to ensure safe reliable efficient and high-performing facilities
  • Lead capital projects renovations and infrastructure upgrades from planning through execution and closeout
  • Manage and develop a large multi-disciplinary unionized workforce and site leadership team
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with university executives faculty staff students and labor representatives
  • Ensure compliance with company policies contractual obligations safety standards and regulatory requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a Director-level (or equivalent senior leadership) role overseeing facilities or IFM operations
  • 10 years of experience in Integrated Facilities Management large-scale campus operations or complex institutional environments strongly preferred
  • Proven experience managing multi-million-dollar operating and capital budgets
  • Demonstrated leadership of multi-disciplinary IFM functions (e.g. physical plant custodial grounds EH&S energy construction)
  • Experience managing unionized workforces and multi-site or campus-based operations
  • Executive-level communication and presentation experience with senior leadership or C-suite stakeholders
  • Strong financial operational and contract management capabilities

Preferred Experience

  • Direct experience in higher education facilities management (college or university campus environment preferred)
  • Background in large institutional settings such as hospitals public sector campuses military bases or multi-site enterprise facilities
  • Experience leading large-scale capital planning and infrastructure renewal programs
  • Strong understanding of sustainability initiatives and energy management strategies in campus environments
  • Proven track record of organizational leadership change management and operational improvement
