Exciting opportunity at MSK: Join our Biobank and Pathology Core as a Research Technician! The MSKBiobankand Pathology Core Facility at MSK is a centralized comprehensive facility for research involving human tissue. The research facility performs tissue sampleprocurement histology and immunohistochemistry services for MSKinvestigators and external collaborators. A central pillar of the BiobankFacility is the collection database annotation and banking of human biospecimens. Our team of biobanking professionals procures surgical and biopsy research samples from over 8000 patients per year. Our samples are a key prerequisite for high-impact cutting-edge basic translational and clinical trial research at MSK.

Role Overview:

  • Process human surgical specimens in timely fashion and following specific SOP and individual protocol requirements.
  • Extract relevant clinical information and enter data in biospecimen databases.
  • Work with surgical pathology prosessing teams to procure tissue.
  • Help develop novel protocols for rapid high-quality specimenprocurement.
  • Independently design plan and set up new protocols for biospecimen collection and processing.
  • Participate in Center Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement activities.
  • Work with the Centers IT team to improve and implement biobanking software solutions.
  • Use database tools to query and retrieve inventory.

Key Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in relevant scientific field (biochemistry molecular biology premed pharmacology anatomy/physiology or related fields).
  • Prior experience in a biological laboratory environment.
  • Knowledge of anatomy/physiology and experience with medical records is a plus.

  • Ability to work independently and perform repetitive tasks with no loss of accuracy.
  • Attention to detail and strong record-keeping habits.
  • Ability to follow protocols while troubleshooting when needed.
  • Team-oriented approach to supporting postdocs and fellow researchers.
  • Adaptability in a dynamic lab environment.

Additional Information:

  • Location: NYC Zuckerman Research Center
  • Schedule: On-site 37.5 hours per week; M-F typically 9 am to 5 pm with one designated day each week requiring a 1 pm to 9:00 pm. shift.
  • Reporting to Supervisor Core Facilities.
