Job Summary

Summary
-Carries out a broad range of technically advanced research activities and procedures; evaluates conclusions and has considerable latitude to modify or devise methods and techniques as necessary to achieve desired results; typically supervises technical and sometimes administrative elements of the research unit.

Essential Functions
-Works independently under minimal supervision.
-Executes protocols involving a variety of routine and non-routine experiments at a professional level.
-Develops modification of existing techniques as collaboration with other members of the research team gives input to research design.
-Calculates transcribes and graphs data.
-Trains new staff and may serve in a limited supervisory role.
-Performs cell culture primary neuron culture iPSC culture maintenance and in vitro and in vivo assays examines protein expression level e.g. by ELISA and western blot.
-Performs genetic biochemical and phenotype tests.
-Executes general molecular biology.
-Contributes to design of research protocols along with research associates; troubleshoots problems as they arise; initiates alternative protocols/approaches and modifies existing technique for better efficiency.
-Maintains complete and accurate record of experimentation. Assists in the planning/development of daily and long-term research projects; assists in manuscript and meeting preparation.
-Maintains resource inventories.
-Coordinates daily schedule of experiments.
-Responsible for data management: collects records tabulates and presents data. Creates graphs of experiments performs statistical tests and discusses progress of work regularly with supervisor.
-Executes protocols of non-routine experiments.
-Assists PI with determining the most suitable methodology.
-Performs basic design and modification of protocols.
-Calculates transcribes and analyzes data.
-Prepares and presents reports.
-Organizes and summarizes acquired data using scientific and Statistical Techniques.
-Participates in the design of experiments or field work.
-Complies with all policies and standards.
-Performs all other duties/responsibilities as directed.


Qualifications

Education
-Bachelors Degree in a related field of study required.

Experience
-Previous research lab experience 1-2 years required.

-Must have at least one year experience in a directly related research setting.

-Must have experience in wet labs and with cell line/iPSC work or in vivo model work.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
-Analytical skills and ability to resolve technical problems.
-Ability to interpret acceptability of data results.
-Strong computer skills.
-Demonstrated competence in research techniques and methodologies.
