Research Informatics Pharmacist-Oncology

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Practices following the laws rules and regulations of the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Pharmacy Department of Public Health the Food and Drug Administration Drug Enforcement Administration BIDMC Committee on Clinical Investigations (CCI) and all Dana Farber/Harvard Cancer Center (DF/HCC) policies and procedures.

2. Maintains certification and credentials per the Board of Registration and ensures the protection of rights and welfare of human subjects participating in clinical research conducted at BIDMC.

3. Partners with RRNs and PIs to review approve and educate staff on new adult research chemotherapy treatment plans in Epic. Develops and maintains treatment plans in collaboration with Epic analysts and provides real-time support for Research Willow and Beacon build activities.

5. Operates within the Cancer Clinical Trials Office (CCTO) to facilitate communication and troubleshoot issues between study teams sponsors research pharmacists and other DF/HCC institutions to ensure appropriate management of investigational agents.

6. Thoroughly reviews protocols and related documents to ensure appropriate study conduct. Reviews incoming protocols to identify potential issues before consideration by the Scientific Review Committee (SRC) and Institutional Review Board (IRB).

Participates in multidisciplinary meetings and committees (may include but is not limited to: the DF/HCC IRB CCTO Disease Groups Epic Workgroup etc.).

9. Develops and maintains a thorough understanding of BIDMC Research Pharmacy operating procedures policies and practices. Including medication software for inventory control dispensing guideline creation and maintenance and research medication processing and labeling. Will maintain knowledge of organizational and department policies and procedures related to chemo and non-chemo administration.

Required Qualifications:

1. Bachelors degree inPharmacy required. Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD) preferred.

2. Licensed Registered Pharmacist in Massachusetts required.

3. 3-5 yearsrelated work experience required.

4. Experience with Epic in an informatics and/or patient care setting.

5. Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple competing demands.

6. Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook Word Excel PowerPoint or Access and other web-based applications (Jira Confluence SharePoint). May produce complex documents perform analysis and maintain databases.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Direct patient care experience in a hospital pharmacy preferably in an academic medical center setting.

2. Oncology experience with BCOP certification or ASHP accredited residency is a plus.

3. Previous research experience.

Social/Environmental Requirements:

Work requires periods of close attention to work without interruption. Concentrated effort of up to 4 hours without break may be required.

Work is varied every day and the employee needs to be adaptable to respond to these changes and use independent judgment and manage priorities.
