Job Summary

Job Description Summary
Provide support to the Principal Investigator as accorded by the work agreement statement. The Research Associate plans designs and conducts highly technical and complex research projects independently and in consultation with a supervisor. Analyses research data and provides interpretations. Contributes to the development of research documentation for publication and/or presentation. Prepares technical reports papers graphs and/or records. This is a limited-term exempt Administrator/Academic Professional position scheduled to work full-time for a duration of up to 9/30/27 subject to available funding and may be extended as needed. This position is eligible for participation in our health and welfare benefits and our supplemental retirement plan.

Responsibilities
Conduct laboratory experiments independently and in consultation with the supervisor. Evaluate antifungal properties and the mechanism of activity of compounds Prepare technical reports papers graphs and/or record and provide interpretations. Collaborate with faculty and external collaborators with similar research activities. Maintain accurate complete and timely records of all experimental procedures and results. Participate in research meetings and provide updates on project progress. Manage and maintain all biochemical data in digital format ensuring appropriate storage backup and data integrity. Contribute to the development of research documentation such as technical reports and manuscripts for publication and/or presentation. Consult and assist Principal Investigator Work closely alongside the Principal Investigator to establish research objectives methodologies timelines and project deliverables. Monitor progress of research activities and communicate results in a timely manner. Laboratory Maintain inventory and initiate request orders to ensure the facility is well-equipped with the necessary supplies reagents and equipment to conduct research Use equipment and lab space as required for research while following all departmental and lab policies regarding safety biosafety and hazardous materials

Required Qualifications
Masters degree in Microbiology or a related field or equivalent combination of education and research experience. Knowledge of research and experimental methods as issued by Institutional Research Boards. Ability to conduct research in a timely manner and document all data. Strong writing skills and computational knowledge. Ability to work alone and/or with student (or laboratory) assistants. Ability to collaborate with the Principal Investigator and other faculty before and during research. Strong understanding of lab safety procedures with the ability to maintain a safe and organized lab. Ability to follow appropriate research protocols and university policies and procedures.
