The University of Miami College of Arts and Sciences - Department of Psychology has an exciting opportunity for a full time Research Associate 2 to work in Miami FL.

The Research Associate 2 GAB contributes to the Universitys research activities under the supervision of senior staff. Moreover the incumbent understands interprets and complies with research policies and protocols.

Core responsibilities:

• Performs specialized and complex experiments.
• Participates in the publication of significant research results.
• Advances expertise through education training and research.
• Writes extramural proposals to gain support when appropriate.
• Collects prepares analyzes dissects and evaluates specimens and tissue cultures.
• Weighs and anesthetizes laboratory animals for experiments.
• Operates sensitive and highly complex laboratory equipment.
• Performs calculations to complete research test results.
• Performs photography and dark room processing.
• Participates in training sessions and workshops.
• Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Department Specific Functions:

The goal of the project is to develop a culturally and linguistically adapted psycho-behavioral sleep intervention for Hispanic couples coping with cancer. The Research Associate 2 will be responsible for adapting the intervention materials and procedures as well as the delivering the adapted intervention to Hispanic adults with cancer and their spousal caregivers.

Core Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in relevant field required.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience required.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
• Skill in collecting organizing and analyzing data.
• Ability to recognize analyze and solve a variety of problems.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
• Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
• Ability to analyze organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
• Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
• Ability to work evenings nights and weekends as necessary.
• Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
