Job Summary
Role Overview
We are seeking an engineer to independently evaluate select and apply standard electrical engineering techniques and procedures. The successful candidate will use professional judgment and technical expertise to solve complex power system protection challenges.
Core Responsibilities
- Relay Programming & Coordination: Develop and manage protection settings for major relay manufacturers.
- System Modeling & Analysis: Conduct short-circuit coordination and arc flash studies using industry-standard analysis software.
- Event Investigation: Analyze relay mis-operations using oscillography and waveform analysis tools.
- Regulatory Compliance: Generate and review verification reports to meet all national and regional power system protection standards.
- Project & Wide-Area Studies: Manage relay settings for wide-area coordination and generator integration projects.
- General Engineering Design: Perform ground grid design transformer sizing and load flow studies while adhering to relevant electrical codes and standards.
- Project Management & Collaboration: Coordinate project timelines maintain document control systems and communicate directly with project leads and client representatives.
- Field Support: Visit job sites occasionally under supervision to gain hands-on field experience.
Candidate Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (accredited program) or Electrical Engineering Technology.
- Experience: Minimum of one year of experience (advanced degrees like an MSEE or PhD may reduce this requirement by one year).
- Technical Knowledge: Strong foundational understanding of power system analysis and system protection principles.
- Key Skills: Excellent communication organization detail-orientation and software proficiency.
- Travel: Ability to travel up to 10%
