Role Summary
The Reinsurance Technical Accountant will be responsible for supporting assumed reinsurance technical accounting activities across global portfolios based on business need. This role requires strong technical accounting knowledge attention to detail analytical judgment and the ability to work across multiple regions systems and stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate processing reporting and resolution of reinsurance accounting activity.
The role will support close and reporting deliverables review and process reinsurance statements of account analyze premiums losses commissions and related balances and help ensure accounting activity is recorded accurately in accordance with contract terms and internal procedures. The position will also support issue resolution aged balance review account analysis and coordination with internal stakeholders including Underwriting Claims Finance Cash Accounting offshore processing teams and Reporting.
This role is critical to maintaining continuity control integrity and service quality across the global assumed reinsurance portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform assumed reinsurance technical accounting activities across global portfolios regions and business needs.
- Review analyze and process reinsurance statements of account ensuring activity is complete accurate and aligned with contract terms and internal procedures.
- Analyze and record reinsurance activity including premiums losses commissions fees adjustments and other contract-related balances.
- Support monthly and quarterly close processes ensuring assigned deliverables are completed timely and accurately.
- Monitor research and resolve open items exceptions and aged balances related to assigned accounts and portfolios.
- Work closely with Cash Accounting to support timely clearing of aged balances investigate receipt or payment-related questions and resolve cash application or statement of account processing inquiries.
- Partner with offshore processing teams to provide guidance answer questions review outputs and support quality and consistency of processing.
- Coordinate with Underwriting Claims Finance Reporting Cash Accounting and other internal stakeholders to resolve account questions and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Support account reconciliations variance analysis and investigation of unusual or unexpected movements.
- Identify and escalate complex issues control concerns processing delays or aged balance risks in a timely manner.
- Maintain clear documentation of accounting conclusions open items follow-ups and resolution steps.
- Support audit internal control and compliance-related requests including preparation of supporting documentation and explanations.
- Contribute to process improvements reporting enhancements automation readiness and opportunities to improve efficiency visibility and control across the Technical Accounting function.
- Assist with training knowledge transfer and documentation of account-specific or region-specific procedures as needed.
- Provide flexible support across regions portfolios and deliverables as priorities shift within the global Technical Accounting function.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in reinsurance accounting insurance accounting technical accounting finance or a related field.
- Strong understanding of assumed reinsurance concepts including premiums losses commissions statements of account treaty activity and related accounting flows.
- Ability to interpret reinsurance activity identify exceptions and apply judgment when reviewing account activity.
- Strong analytical reconciliation and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deliverables stakeholders and deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with onshore offshore and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Ability to escalate issues appropriately and support timely resolution of complex accounting matters.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ability to work with accounting systems reporting tools and large data sets.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with assumed reinsurance technical accounting.
- Experience supporting global multi-region or complex reinsurance portfolios.
- Familiarity with reinsurance administration systems and reporting platforms.
- Experience working with offshore processing teams or shared service models.
- Experience supporting month-end or quarter-end close audit requests and control documentation.
- Experience with aged balance analysis account reconciliations and statement of account review.

For this position the anticipated base salary range is $75000 - $85000 USD (Stamford CT). Your salary offer will be based on an assessment of a variety of factors including your specific experience and work location.
