Role Overview

Reviews and drafts reinsurance contracts in accordance with regulatory and company requirements. Provides advice and counsel to internal customers concerning all aspects of the Reinsurance function.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain reinsurance documentation in accordance with statutory timeframes.
  • Compare contract clauses to Company standards and state requirements.
  • Answer reinsurance contract related questions from Accounting and Claims.
  • Compile written review notes for distribution to counterparty and enforces wording compliance.
  • Escalate non-compliant wording to Manager and documents any exceptions to file.
  • Create draft synopsis of reinsurance contract for review by manager.
  • Identify risk transfer triggers to manager for possible review by Actuarial.
  • Input data to various tracking databases and produces reports.
  • Communicate with counterparties to ensure that reinsurer signatures are received within nine months.
  • Maintain orderly and compliant contract files.
  • Assist with Security Committee report.
What You Bring
  • Bachelors degree in Business a related field or the equivalent education and/or experience.
  • 2 years of relevant and progressive professional experience.
  • Possess and have ability to apply knowledge of principles practices and procedures.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on confidentiality tact and diplomacy.
  • Advanced organizational and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Knowledgeable of industry changes legal updates and technical developments related to applicable area of the Companys business to proactively respond to changing business environment.
  • Intermediate proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office package (Excel Access PowerPoint Word).
Travel

Occasional travel (up to 10% of time).
