Job Description Summary:

The Regulatory Advocacy Intern will work in collaboration with the Sustainability Senior Manager and the Senior Policy Advisor for Energy Utilities to analyze and develop recommendations regarding the citys participation in proceedings at the Public Utilities Commission in alignment with the citys Climate Action Plan and other environmental sustainability goals.

Job Description:

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • Regulatory advocacy through litigated Public Utilities Commission proceedings
  • Role of local government in regulatory advocacy
  • Design and approach to utility energy conservation and beneficial electrification programs

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to research analyze and synthesize complex information develop and present recommendations and prepare concise written reports correspondence and recommendations. Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to maintain effective working relationships with business contacts the public advisory boards consultants and with employees at all levels of the organization. Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills. Have and maintain acceptable background information including criminal conviction history and credit history.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Completed coursework in environmental science or pre-law.


REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at an accredited university in environmental studies political science or business with an emphasis on pre-law coursework.
