Position Overview

Navitas Healthcare LLC is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a Surgical Step-Down Unit (SSU) assignment in Ithaca NY. This role is ideal for an RN with strong post-surgical and high-acuity patient care experience who thrives in a fast-paced acute care hospital environment.

The RN will provide comprehensive nursing care to surgical patients recovering from orthopedic spinal and other complex surgical procedures while collaborating closely with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to post-surgical patients in the Surgical Step-Down Unit
  • Monitor assess and respond to changes in patient conditions
  • Administer medications IV therapy and treatments as ordered
  • Collaborate with physicians therapists and interdisciplinary care teams
  • Maintain accurate patient documentation and EMR charting
  • Educate patients and families regarding surgical recovery discharge planning and post-operative care
  • Ensure compliance with hospital safety standards infection control policies and clinical protocols
  • Support patient recovery and promote positive patient outcomes
Required Qualifications
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Surgical Step-Down Unit (SSU) RN experience required
  • Strong experience caring for post-surgical patients required
  • Excellent patient assessment communication and clinical judgment skills
  • Ability to work effectively in high-acuity night shift environments
