Job Summary
Job Summary Post Cardiac Cath Unit (PCCU) RN
- Care for adult patients pre- and post-cardiac catheterization procedures and select overflow from the Emergency Department.
- Manage arterial/venous sheath pulls TR bands and post-procedure care for new Pacemakers Defibrillators and Watchman devices.
- Discharge patients typically 24-48 hours post-procedure or arrange transfer for CABG consults as needed.
- Care for observation patients from ED including procedures and discharge within 36 hours.
- No care for chest tubes or critical drips (only select drips: Nitroglycerin Angiomax Heparin Electrolytes fluids antibiotics).
- Manage patients with cardiac diagnoses including NSTEMI STEMI CHF atrial fibrillation/flutter bradycardia tachycardia heart blocks SVT V-tach sinus arrhythmia and AV-paced/defibrillator patients.
- Work 3x12hr night shifts (7:30 pm 7:00 am) with every other weekend required.
- Required to float within scope to meet facility needs.
- Patient ratio: 1:5 (days nights weekends).
- Required skills: cardiac telemetry central line draws ports blood administration PCA pumps bone marrow aspiration assist pleurx chest tubes; chemotherapy administration preferred.
- Required certifications: BLS; Preferred: ACLS CPI.
- Requires 2 years RN experience (1 year in specialty); cardiac patient experience required.
- Must have WV or Compact RN license (pending acceptable).
- Experience with MS/Tele or Telemetry settings required.
- Cerner charting; royal blue/white scrubs.
- Free parking provided; 36 hours/week guaranteed.
- Must comply with flu shot requirements during flu season; COVID vaccine not required.
- Short-term acute care Level IV Trauma Center major teaching hospital.
