Job Summary
Inova Fairfax Medical Campus is looking for a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) and Registered Nurse Fellows to join the Womens Surgical Specialty Unit. Full-time part-time openings available. Day shift and Night shift availability. Sign-on bonus and relocation assistance for qualified full-time candidates.
Available Shifts: Day (7:00 am - 7:00 pm) and Night (7:00 pm - 7:00 am)
Full-time and Part-time openings.

The Registered Nurse provides knowledgeable and caring clinical practice and care coordination through an understanding of patients families nurses and healthcare delivery teams. Consistently provides safe and therapeutic care in a holistic and systematic way while incorporating differences into the provision of care and conducting all patient care in a patient/family centered manner. Integrates knowledge skills and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families throughout the continuum to include patient and family education. Communicates effectively and works cooperatively with others while having respect for and an understanding of other clinical disciplines. Determines processes for delivery of care from direct patient/family communication technology and other healthcare team member collaboration.
The RN Fellow achieves desired patient outcomes and enhances the patient experience by using a focused and integrated approach of care delivery. Practices in assigned patient care delivery settings and meets program objectives while utilizing and applying new knowledge. Meets educational goals under the direct supervision of an experienced RN and through various training formats.
Job Responsibilities
- Performs comprehensive patient health assessments by interpreting multiple data sets and synthesizing their interrelationships
- Formulates individualized plans of care based on assessment findings and interpreting trends in patient populations to achieve best practice
- Conducts all patient care in a patient and family centered manner integrating knowledge skills and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families throughout the continuum of care
- Advocates for patients rights from the patient and family perspective and provides counsel while acting as a resource to resolve issues
- Accesses resources from all disciplines to achieve desired patient outcomes and coordinates healthcare and alternate services for patient/family transition planning
- Documents all patient care activities as per documentation standards and assists healthcare team members with documentation
- Evaluates the process to achieve outcomes anticipates patient variances and makes revisions to plans of care
- Makes clinical decisions based on experience patient population data and intuition while promoting the development of clinical decision making of all team members
- Communicates effectively works cooperatively with others and has respect for and an understanding of other clinical disciplines
- Assists staff to assess patients learning needs and outcomes measurement of patient education
- Provides direction and guidance to others regarding practice while serving as a clinical resource preceptor and mentor and delegates patient care activities and coordinates unit activities as needed
- Utilizes standards guidelines and pathways for care delivery and ensures that the process for delivery of care is synthesized from direct patient/family communication technology and other healthcare team member collaboration
- Demonstrates evidence of self-development by obtaining a minimum of six formal contact hours and maintains own Team Member Continuing Education Record
- Evaluates clinical and quality outcomes and contributes to performance improvement initiatives
- May perform additional duties as assigned
Registered Nurse (RN) Minimum Requirements:
- Experience: Required 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse for Critical Care units 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse in a critical care setting or completion of a critical care fellowship.
- Education:BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an Associates Degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
- Certification:Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association required upon start For Critical Care Units: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support - Within 6 Months For Pediatric Units: Pediatric Advanced Life Support- Within 6 Months For Infusion Center Units: Obtain chemo card- within 3 months of hire
- Licensure: Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state Registered Nurse license
Preferred Qualifications:
- Recent Registered Nurse (RN) experience on an inpatient med/surge unit for Registered Nurses.
- Recent experience on an acute inpatient unit for RN Fellow candidates.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
