Shift: PT (24hrs) - Nights

Unit Description:

The Observation unit is a fast paced 6-8 bed unit with potential to expand caring for patients under 2448-hour observation. The patient population typically includes short stay treatments including TIA workups stress tests and radiology procedures. The goal is to prepare the patients for discharge within 24 hours or less or work with the physician team to upgrade the patients status. Sentara Virginia Beach General is recognized as a stroke center and holds magnet designation for excellence in patient care. We are seeking experienced candidates to join this team-oriented unit!

Job Description:

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment diagnosis outcomes identification planning implementation coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics culturally congruent practice communication collaboration leadership education evidence- based practice /nursing research quality evaluation resource utilization and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing.

Education:

• ADN required BSN or higher preferred.

Certification:

• Virginia or compact multistate RN (Registered Nurse) license in good standing

• BLS within 90 days of hire.

Experience:

• RN experience in a hospital setting.

• Experience in a Med/Surg Stepdown IMCU
