Our postpartum/nursery unit has 11 rooms with a 1:6 (3 couplets) patient ratio.

Our nurses in this department care for postpartum moms newborns post op GYN patients and occasional antepartum patients (such as hyperemesis or pyelonephritis).

Additionally these nurses attend deliveries provide 1:1 care for infants requiring additional support and prepare infants for transfer when a higher level of care is required.

How youll contribute

A Registered Nurse (RN)who excels in this role:

• Performs plan of care intervention including medication administration specimen collection clinical treatments as well as other medical care treatment.

• Documents patient care given.

• Monitors records and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team physician patient and family.

• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living including personal hygiene elimination nutrition and ambulation.

• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care including patient transfer discharge referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.

• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age culture condition and circumstances.

What were looking for

Applicants should have an active Virginia RN license (single-state) or compact license. If relocating licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.Associates degree in nursing required.

Additional requirements include:

• Bachelors degree preferred
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support
• Experience in acute care hospital preferred
• American Heart Association ACLS within 6 months of hire
• S.T.A.B.L.E preferred
