Work location: Texas Health Fort Worth 1301 Pennsylvania Ave Fort Worth TX 76104

Work hours: Full-time nights (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM) 36 hours per week with rotating weekends and holidays required.

• The General Surgical Nurse provides care to a wide variety of post op patients including: complex gastro-intestinal and abdominal surgeries and plastics related wound care cases requiring ostomy drain and wound vac management.

• Level I Trauma Center

Heres What You Need

• Associate Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing required
• BSN preferred
• Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire required
• BCLS prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
• CPI Crisis Prevention Intervention Training within 90 days of hire
• 1-year experience as a registered nurse required or the completion of an RN Residency program
• 2 years Med Surg experience as an RN in acute care setting preferred

What You Will Do

Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process

• Assesses the patient
• Plans the care of the patient
• Intervenes as appropriate
• Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
• Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
• Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
• Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift inter-hospital and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
